About Moses Sakala
Moses Sakala is a dynamic multi-talented artist who is a Singer, Producer, Songwriter, Master Drummer, Dancer, and Artist Manager. He is one of the celebrated musicians in Zambia who has personally devoted himself to nurturing traditional music and culture. He was born on 25th March 1970 and raised in Matero Township, a peri-urban suburb located in Lusaka, the Zambian capital city.
Music is an innate skill that Moses Sakala discovered at a very young age and was inspired by his early exposure to numerous musical activities in his neighbourhood. The township was a hub of blended cultures because it attracted settlers who came from different parts of the country. From traditional healing festivals, initiation ceremonies, funerals, and weddings, traditional dance took prominence in all these activities. Moses’ attention was drawn by the healing dances that he would practice regularly.
With his passion for the Arts, he set up Odini Arts Centre, an initiative and platform to teach and nurture arts and culture – especially for young people. Mr. Sakala serves as Founder and Director of Odini Arts Centre.
