ENGAGING FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES & RICH EXPERIENCES

3-Day Arts & Culture Workshop

As a prelude to the Makewane Na Kalindula Music Festival, Odini Arts Centre and
Blerk Media, in partnership with the Tiyende Pamodzi Goodwill Foundation, will
host a three-day youth-focused workshop dedicated to exploring and promoting
Zambia’s vibrant arts and cultural heritage.

This interactive and experiential program will bring together 50 youth participants,
carefully selected from all 10 provinces of Zambia, with a deliberate focus on
diversity, inclusion, and regional representation.

Equipping Youth With Skills

Equip young people with skills in traditional and contemporary arts, including music, dance, poetry, and storytelling. This objective focuses on providing hands-on training and mentorship in various artistic disciplines, from the rich heritage of traditional Zambian arts to modern expressions. Participants will gain practical skills that empower them to explore their creativity and develop their artistic talents.

Bridging Intergenerational Gaps

Create space for intergenerational dialogue on the role of youth in preserving Zambia’s cultural identity. We aim to facilitate meaningful conversations between young participants and cultural custodians, elders, and experienced artists. This dialogue will explore how youth can actively contribute to safeguarding and evolving Zambia's unique cultural heritage for future generations.

Strengthening Youth Entrepreneurial Capacity

Strengthen youth capacity in cultural entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation. This objective seeks to empower young people to see culture not just as art, but as a viable pathway for economic empowerment. We'll provide insights and tools to help them develop innovative cultural products, services, and ventures, fostering their entrepreneurial spirit within the arts sector.

Fostering Youth Engagement

Foster active youth engagement and visibility in national cultural platforms like the Makewane Na Kalindula Festival. Our goal is to ensure young artists and cultural enthusiasts are not just spectators but active participants and contributors to major national cultural events. This workshop will prepare them to showcase their talents, share their perspectives, and elevate their voices on prominent stages like the Makewane Na Kalindula Festival.
